なんと Cuphead と Ori シリーズの２大フィーチャー！ 両シリーズの大ファンとしては興奮を隠せません。

GMF goes to London! In Spring of 2022, the Royal Festival Hall shall resound with the music of video games as never before. The jazzy vibes of Cuphead, an unmistakably stylish platformer, will be interpreted on stage by a seasoned big-band. Then, a symphonic concert featuring music from Ori and the Will of the Wisps as well as Ori and the Blind Forest will be performed live by the famous Philharmonia Orchestra.
It doesn’t’ get much better than this, does it?
ゲームミュージックフェスティバル（GMF）、ロンドンへ！
2022年春、ロイヤル・フェスティバル・ホールに響き渡るのは、なんとゲーム音楽です。まずは圧倒的スタイリッシュ・プラットフォームゲーム”カップヘッド（Cuphead）”。そのジャジーなフィーリングが、熟練のビッグバンドの手によってステージに再現されます。そして”オリとくらやみの森（Ori and the Blind Forest）”に、”オリとウィスプの意思（Ori and the Will of the Wisps）”。シリーズ２作の音楽をフィーチャーした交響演奏が、あのフィルハーモニア管弦楽団によって行われます。
これ以上ないラインナップといえるでしょう。

Paying homage to the golden age of cartoons, Cuphead shook the video game industry with its bold style so much that a Netflix series based on it is already in production. Two cup-like brothers strive to repay their debt to the devil in a dynamic ‘rubber hose’ animation style – this setup deserves a proper soundtrack, and Kristofer Maddigan delivered.
カートゥーン黄金時代に対するオマージュの感じられる”カップヘッド”は、その大胆なスタイルでゲーム業界に衝撃を与え、現在ではそれを下敷きにしたNetflixのアニメシリーズが制作されています。「ラバー・ホース」というダイナミックなアニメーションスタイルで描かれる、悪魔に借金を負わされたカップの兄弟ふたりの大奮闘。この活躍の舞台にふさわしいサウンドトラックは、クリストファー・マディガン氏が用意しました。
Full of early big-band jazz mixed with ragtime music, the original soundtrack of Cuphead swiftly transports the listener to a world inspired by Duke Ellington and Count Basie, but always with a twist. All of this led to Cuphead winning the BAFTA Games Award for Best Music.
20世紀初頭ビッグバンドジャズとラグタイムのごった煮となっている“カップヘッド”の劇中曲。デューク・エリントンやカウント・ベイシーを彷彿とさせつつも、あの手この手の工夫が加えられているのが、一聴してわかります。これによって”カップヘッド”は、英国アカデミー賞ゲーム部門で、作曲賞を受賞しました。
Bartosz Pernal Orchestra is a highlight among contemporary European big-bands. They are given the honour of interpreting these vibes on stage, and they are up to the challenge, having previously performed the Jazz of Grim Fandango – another tribute to a cult classic game OST.
今ヨーロッパで最も注目のビッグバンド、バルトシュ・ペルナ・オーケストラは、以前にも、知る人ぞ知る往年の名作ゲーム ”グリム・ファンダンゴ”の劇中曲へのトリビュートとなるジャズ演奏をしています。今またこの愉快な世界をステージに蘇らせるという大役を背に、彼らの新たな挑戦が始まります。

Ori and the Blind Forest is remembered to this day as one of the most ambitious platformer games, thanks to its flawless mechanics and visual design but also because of the music. Composed by Gareth Coker, sublime melodies are combined with lyrical themes to form a warm and organic soundtrack. The universally acclaimed sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, quickly gained a reputation of being a masterpiece in its own right, also thanks to an unforgettable score by Coker who is an Ivor Novello Award winner and multi-BAFTA-nominated composer.
近年のプラットフォームゲームで、特に人々の記憶に新しい意欲作 “オリとくらやみの森”。その評価は完成されたシステムやビジュアルデザインのみならず、音楽面からもうかがえます。ギャレス・コーカー氏の手で生み出された荘厳な旋律が抒情的なテーマと相まって、劇中曲は暖かみと統一感のあるものに仕上がっています。各方面から絶賛されている続編 ”オリとウィスプの意思”も、発売後すぐに名作の評価を受けました。そこにはゲーム自体の出来はもちろん、音楽の存在も見逃すことはできません。同作でも作曲を担当したコーカー氏はアイヴァー・ノヴェロ賞を受賞、英国アカデミー賞ゲーム部門で複数のノミネートをされました。
Both of these soundtracks form the musical material of The Symphony of the Spirits, the second concert of Game Music Festival 2022. Maestro Robert Kurdybacha is no stranger to the music of video games, both as a conductor and arranger. He is an experienced academic tutor who wrote several fan-favorite symphonies for the previous GMFs.
この両作品の劇中曲をもとに紡がれる演目が、GMF2022で行われるコンサートの第二幕「精霊たちの交響曲」です。指揮を執るロベルト・クルディバッハ氏は指揮者としても編曲者としてもゲーム音楽への造詣が深い人物です。また氏は指導者としても経験豊富で、過去GMFで好評を博した交響曲を複数手がけています。
The performance by Philharmonia Orchestra and Hertfordshire Chorus will take the audience on a journey through Ori’s world as never heard before. Woodwinds soloist Kristin Naigus is along for the ride: she performed all of Ori’s specialist woodwinds in the original soundtracks.
フィルハーモニア管弦楽団とハートフォードシャー合唱団による演奏が、聴衆の皆さんをこれまで聴いたこともない”オリ”の世界へと連れ出します。木管楽器ソロで特別出演するのはクリスティン・ナイグス氏。”オリ”シリーズ原曲の木管楽器のすべてを演奏しているスペシャリストです。

Game Music Festival is not just concerts with the music of video games but also multiple educational events. During masterclass workshops, participants will be able to see the backstage of how audio is being created for games, as well as improve their competencies and learn many tips & tricks.
GMFはゲーム音楽のコンサートにとどまらず、多様な学びの場でもあります。マスタークラス・ワークショップの参加者は、ゲーム音響作りの舞台裏に触れながら、多くのヒントやコツを学んで各自の能力を向上させることできます。
In parallel to the festival’s concerts, there are meetings and discussions with game audio professionals, including masterclass workshops conducted by composers who are the special guests of Game Music Festival 2022.
コンサートに合わせて、ゲーム音響のプロフェッショナルを交えたミーティングや討論会が行われます。GMF 2022の特別ゲストとなる作曲家陣によるマスタークラス・ワークショップもそのひとつです。
Those sessions will be a unique opportunity to have closer look into the world of music and sounds of contemporary video games. This can be very beneficial for everyone who plans to build a career in composing or designing sound for games.
現代のゲーム音楽とサウンドの世界への理解を深める、絶好の機会となるこのセッション。ゲーム音楽の作曲やデザインに関するキャリアアップを考える人にとって、確かな手応えを感じるものとなるでしょう。
